Mission Statement…The 7 P’s
1. THE PROJECT: A new magazine for women of color…by women of color. Urban Beauties Magazine.
2. THE PREMISE: Women of color are unique, talented, and beautiful; We are style makers and style breakers…trendsetters and, not to mention, MAJOR consumers. We are also some of the sexiest ladies on the planet. Yet, with all we have to offer, somehow we still tend to go unrepresented on the elite runways and publications of the world. Occasionally, one of us might slip through the cracks, but more often than not we can’t get our foot up the front steps let alone in the door because the world’s vision of beauty doesn’t always include us. We get placed in a box – a box filled with limitations. But we can change that, and we intend to.
3. THE 2-PART PURPOSE:
A) To showcase THE FULL SPECTRUM OF URBAN BEAUTY FOR ALL TO ADMIRE! From the ultra sexy Amber’s and Melyssa Ford UBeauties who keep you coming back for more, to the Naomi Campbell’s and Tyra Banks UBeauties who work the runway in couture; To all the ‘around the way’ UBeauties that just can’t be denied. Urban Beauties have many faces and it’s time for all to shine!
B) To also recognize and attend to the greater need amongst women of color to make better, more informed decisions in all aspects of their lives; to be a point of reference, guidance, and inspiration. Our bi-monthly issues will include enlightening editorial pieces, poignant advice, and other valuable information.
4. THE PROMISE:To be forever dedicated to promoting positive images of women of color; to promoting sisterhood and self-love; To promoting success and never compromising our integrity or that of our readers.
5. THE 2-PART PLAN:
A) To build relationships with casting agents/agencies, etc. and, try to serve as a tool for those looking to break into the world of fashion/modeling, as well as those who may already have some experience, but are looking for more exposure.
B) To consult experts in various fields to be sure we are providing the best, most ccurate advice and tips.
6. THE POINT: UBM, originally designed to be a print publication, is also going to be an online fashion/lifestyle magazine/ezine that will feature aspiring models, great articles, advice column, music previews, news updates, etc. Our models will be woman of color who don’t necessarily fit into mainstream America’s idea of the “model type”, but who have a sincere desire to break into the world of fashion and modeling and just need an opportunity to be seen. Our pictures will be fashion forward and classy…sexy, but never raunchy. We will provide a place where you can stimulate your mind and your passion for fashion; A place where you can chat, find out about modeling or related opportunities, even get info on investing or buying your first home. Any and everything to help women of color in their life’s endeavors! A one stop spot for stimulation, information, and beautification!
And last, but not least…
